Sahara to Stratosphere.....

How far is it between the Sahara and the Stratosphere? We are going to the ';Bite'; show at the Strat, and thought we would take the monorail from Harrah%26#39;s to Sahara and walk the rest of the way. Is it safe to walk that route, or should we just opt for a taxi both ways?

Sahara to Stratosphere.....

PJ - not a far walk. Im guessing maybe 5 minutes. I have asked repeatedly about the safety down there as we are staying at the stratosphere at the end of this month and we will walk a lot from the strat to the sahara to use the monorail. Ive had mixed reviews. Some say no dont do it the area is not safe. Others say you will be fine, just stay on the main drag and dont get on the side streets. We walked from Sahara to the Strat last summer and had no problems. MAke sure you stay on LB Boulevard. We accidently got off the boulevard and ended up cutting thru a parking lot. Not the brightest thing to do as it was later and it was dark. Didnt have any problems though.

Sahara to Stratosphere.....

We just got back from the stratosphere and had no trouble walking to the Sahara to catch the monorail. There is also a trolley that runs the length of the strip if you would rather take it than walk to the back of the hotels to catch the monorail. It wasn%26#39;t the walk to the stratosphere that bothered us but having to locate the monorail stations in the 5 or so hotels it stops at and then realizing they were at the very back end of these hotels.

I agree. We bought an all day ticket last summer for the monorail, and only used it to get from one end of the stip to the other. We got off at the Sahara, and walked to the Stratosphere then from there took a cab to Circus Circus and walked the rest of the way down the strip. Then another to TI, it was well worth the $15 in cab fare, although we had already paid the monorail. It thinks is plenty safe.

the area between the strat and sahara after dark is NOT very plesant at all, lowlifes, hookers all sort frequent that part. In fact once you reach the sahara from strat its a relief!

I was planning on a Taxi back to Harrah%26#39;s after dark. Do you think we%26#39;ll be safe walking to Strat from Sahara during the daylight hours, or should we just opt for the taxi both ways and skip the monorail completely?

Im only going on past experience when we stayed at the strat, but during the day it was fine. We%26#39;d always walk to the ihop for breakfast. Its after dark when the undesirables come out. It so dark and seculded by the strat.

Dont worry, the walk from Sahara to the Strats is no problem, but if you walk further up then you might just want to turn around. But if your in a big group you%26#39;ll be ok.

Man by judging these comments i would think i was going into a war zone. I dont care if there are hookers walking the street. I see them in my own home town. Maybe the ones there will be better looking or at least have some of their teeth. I also see them on the strip. Usually though when they are on the strip they actually go into the casinos and sit at the bars. These must be the upper or middle class ho%26#39;s. We will walk. At least to the sahara and im sure we will do it at day and at night. If its really late or im really drunk we will get a cab. I will post my comments on the safety of this area when we return. Sounds like most people are scared to death. In talking with the locals on this site, most say you will be fine. Just dont walk to the north of the strat and stay on the main blvd. Ill let you know. If i dont post sometime the week of april 4th you can figure that we either got mugged and shot or we bought a hooker and im too ashamed to admit it.
