Package deals thru Travelocity, etc. - don't sound good

I am sure some people have had terrific luck thru these agencies, but sounds to me from reading on this forum, that people often are booked into hotels that they would never have chosen on their own. A recent posting makes it sound almost like a scam, booking someone into a %26#39;truck stop type place frequented by prostitues%26#39; and no where near the strip.

Hate to see people have a ruined vacation......is there any recourse if these places out and out lie to you about location or any other major aspect?

I%26#39;m pretty sure with Travelocity you get to choose your hotel. With Priceline and Hotwire you don%26#39;t get to choose. Priceline will list the star rating and location, Hotwire lists the star rating, location, AND amenities list. It%26#39;s a risk you take for paying a (usually) lower price.
