Just returned from Vegas and used the monrail but was amazed at the walking thru the casinos necessary to get to the various stations.....quite a hike each time. My question is....did the casinos pay for building the monorail? If not, why is it necessary to go inside the casinos? Couldn%26#39;t stops have been built outside just like bus stops?
Minor complaint since I had a great time in Vegas but was sure disappointed in inconvenience of monorail.
Question for VEGASHOMEBOY re: monorail
It was finnance by both private and public funds. Go here and you will see your answer why which casinos have direct access.

Honestjohn, so sorry I offended you with my question re: %26#39;free%26#39; monorail. How strange since I recognize you as one of the biggest complainers on this forum.
Aren%26#39;t you the same guy who has complained on this forum about rude employees, drunks ruining Vegas, everything overpriced, how proud of yourself you felt brow beating the clerks at %26#39;trop%26#39; to get lower rate (love to hear the conversation they have about you once you leave the check in). Most people prefer to treat people with respect and it usually works. Try it sometime.
Stick to your gossip about Celine. I know you think you are clever but it%26#39;s not working.
judyl,
Is the monorail that bad? I understand wanting the stops on the Strip, but that would pretty much ruin the sight lines. It would look like the Loop in Chicago. Were you making long haul trips like MGM to Sahara, or intermediate trips?
Bigalbr,
Guess it just wasn%26#39;t what I expected. It is convenient in that you buy whatever type ticket you want at any stop (1 way, all day, etc.) Bad thing to me was major walk through casino to get to monrail. For instance, wanted to go from MGM to Bellagio. Had to walk thru MGM to station, get off at Bally/Paris stop, long walk thru Bally%26#39;s, then cross over to Bellagio. I realize Bellagio is not one of the stops but was still surprised at all the walking involved and I LIKE to walk.
It is probably much more worthwhile on longer runs, like down to the Sahara, etc. Definitely would try it for that.
Did you take the monorail at any other stop?
I only ask as, the MGM stop is by far the worse casino to take the monorail from.
I had a HELL of a time finding it the first time I tried to take it.
I dont find that walk to the stations all that far but the MGM stop is by far the worse one.
Actually, the only trip I took was from the MGM to Bally%26#39;s/Paris and then back to MGM, so don%26#39;t have much advice. It is probably fine for going farther north to Sahara or Hilton. I had to keep looking for the arrows guiding to the monorail. As you said, not easy to find.
