A Goofy question about tipping!

It has been my experience in hotels with bellman as follows: Bellman retrieves you luggage from trunk, accompanies you to check in, follows you to room, recieves a tip $3 - $5 per bag, thanks you and leaves.

Question? Since hotels is LV are so busy.... I would assume the bellmen do not wait with you at check in... does he keep your bags until you find him again and then accoumpany you to the room....at which time you tip him?....OR.... Do you tip him once for taking your luggage.....and leave a tip for him again once luggage arrives at room? Also if you have to wait a couple of hours for your room to be ready...when do you tip the guy for his troubles?

You tip once the bags reach your room. The front desk or you will let the bell desk know when you reach your room and give them the room number.
