Hotels, neighborhoods....again

Leaving in 2 weeks for Stratosphere, (think we got a great deal) for 5 days. Born %26amp; raised in Washington DC %26amp; %26#39;burbs, so I don%26#39;t think the areas in LV would be any different than I%26#39;ve seen before. Probably more dangerous at my high school! Anyway, I am very anal about the hotel we chose. On any review site, ( %26amp; I%26#39;ve read them all) ALL the hotels seem to get their fair share of bad reviews, so I%26#39;m just not sure how much to believe about the Stratosphere. I guess as long as the room is clean, safe, and somewhat attractive, it%26#39;s good. Really wish I could access menus AND prices from the restaraunts. Would like to do something special for our 25th anniversary, and, no I%26#39;m not cheap, but don%26#39;t

( %26amp; wouldn%26#39;t ! ) spend $200 for a meal. ALso have rental car, so getting around not too much of a problem.

Hotels, neighborhoods....again

The Strat is a older property. If your anal about hotels I would not stay there. Look at the Aladdin, Paris, MC, or Mandalay Bay.

May be a bit late, but Orleans is very nice and affordable, with great inexpensive food. If you made your resevations directly with the Strat you can always cancel and re-book elsewhere.

The rooms at Strat are clean, safe and average appointments (like a Holliday Inn). The casino is fun, gambling is cheap, and staf is friendly. Happy trails.

It%26#39;s not that bad! If you%26#39;re walking at night maybe, but otherwise it%26#39;s fine. Also it%26#39;s at the end of the strip so if you%26#39;re walking toward the strip it%26#39;s ok but if you go the other way toward downtown you might be in trouble. As for it%26#39;s age, it was built in the 90%26#39;s from what I remember. That is not old for a hotel. In Vegas you%26#39;re only in your room to sleep anyway. If worse comes to worse take the trollys or cabs with the $ you saved on your room.

Before you ';accept'; the very average Strat. please check rates at Monte Carlo, Golden Nugget and Orleans. You have ABSOLUTELY NO WORRIES about the quality of your hotel, dining and casino experience at ANY of these three properties. All are far superior to Strat in every way except height. And Orleans and GN probably cost less and MC about the same. No need to be worrying about your hotel choice all the way there on the plane.

Night time around the north end tends to bring out the thugs in Las Vegas. Ever watch ';Cops'; in Las Vegas ?

Once you are inside the hotel though, there shouldn%26#39;t be much of a problem anyway.

You are also driving! So, you can drive to the more user-friendly casinos.

Wow, thanks for the advice.....and what a mix it was. I think we%26#39;ll be just fine at the Strat. $300pp for air, 4 nights/5 days and rental car seems good, and since I usually compare all hotel rooms to my pop up camper, I think we%26#39;ll be is good shape.
