Can I get a better room by checking in later?

Just wondering if I would get a ';better'; room by ckecking in

around say 5:00pm, instead of getting in around 12ish and

seeing if I could get a room upgrade.

Just wondering if it matters.

Upgrades are given when available, when requested and if the person requesting meets certain requirements. Somteimes the requirement is just that you ask. Others it maybe that the suites and rooms with the best views are held for high rollers or returning guests. They may be held for guests celebrating Anniversaries, Birthdays, Honeymoons. Only way to find out is to ask. You will get what you paid for, sometimes you will gett a little more. If you wait until 5:00, 6:00 midnight, they may have given out all the standard rooms and have no choice but to upgrade you.

If you have ever stayed there before, ask for the room when you make the reservations. If you have never been there, when you make the reservations, let them know what you want and they will take care of you.

I really do not understand people sometimes. This question appears multiple times every day, phrased every which way. What I do not understand is why people depend on a free upgrade. If you want a room for with a view, suite, spa, or whatever, why not just ask for it when making reservations and pay for it.

It%26#39;s like going to the grocery store and walking up to the butcher counter, asking for hamburger, then asking to be upgraded to a steak for free. Then you have the nerve to be dissapointed when you get what you asked for in the first place.

It never hurts to ask politely. If they willingly offer you a nicer room then take it with a smile but don%26#39;t ever EXPECT to get an upgrade for free.

I agree with ';owa';. I work for a hotel (not in Vegas) and everyone expects an upgrade all the time and get REALLY angry when we can%26#39;t or don%26#39;t give it. I%26#39;m sure they would not give me an upgrade in their own business so why are hotels always getting the heat? Even a irlines don%26#39;t bump you to first class anymore....

OWA I have seen your response in every thread related to this topic and you always have the same response. If it annoys you so much why do u even go into those postings? It all seems a bit juvenile to me...and did u ever think maybe people cant afford the nicer room? Maybe that they had to make a choice b/t a nicer room and gambling? Dont just assume anything...you have no idea where people are coming from or what their situation is. Who gives you the right to judge...besides who says it is expected? it is just a nice perk for some people.

Yo Owa why don%26#39;t you give yourself a break? I%26#39;m SURE you have better things to do?
