Mastercard deal at Orleans

Read about the mastercard deal at the Orleans. Called and was able to change my existing reservation over to promo price.

Mastercard deal at Orleans

When are you going? I called and they said that it would end in April.

Mastercard deal at Orleans

We are going in April.

What is the deal? I%26#39;m interested in the price difference. I%26#39;ll be there this Saturday-Tuesday.

Only good Sunday - Thursday.

The MC price is 1/2 off the usual price so it may still do you good to change Sun, Mon, Tue to that price.

Its not just the Orleans, its all the Coast Casinos, including the Orleans, ,Gold Coast, Barabry Coast, SunCoast etc. I believe the promo code to get the deal online is: MCP0604

This is a really silly question......Do you have to pay with a Mastercard to get the rate?

http://www.coastcasinos.com/mc/ Is the website for the special deal. Someone posted they were able to get the same deal even when paying with a VISA card. Most of April is still available at the Orleans and Suncoast.

least expensive time of year to visit Vegas?

Had a great trip to Vegas in February, can%26#39;t wait to return. Have a very flexible schedule -- any advice on when is the least expensive time of year to visit Vegas? Thanks for any advice.

least expensive time of year to visit Vegas?

Easy question. Go when nobody wants to go like July, August, some weekdays. the week before and after Xmas, and around T-day.

Or you can to about any hotel web site and look at the rate calendars to see when the slow times are. A good one to use is Monte Carlo b/c you can look upto 6-months out. When rooms are $69, it is slow.

least expensive time of year to visit Vegas?

Usually the 2 weeks before Christmas are slow and cheap.

Summertime, baby! And after a February visit, you owe it to yourself to enjoy Vegas at its hottest, and its cheapest!

Hi Boattime,

I always get my best deals in August and September. I went this year the week after Xmas and I have to say it was extremely crowded,

as posted

2 weeks b4 xmas. on sun-thurs.

very few kids, no lines ,

gold strike had rooms for $5.

bad thing many shows go dark

  • LV Hilton?

The room rates on the LV Hilton have been going down steadily over the past week. They are now lower than the Monte Carlo for the last week in April! There does not seem to be many recent reviews on this hotel. The last time I was on this property was 20 years ago. Is it still a nice hotel or does it not compare to the hotels on the strip? Also noticed is rated #50 on tripadvisor hotel rating.

    LV Hilton?

My dad stays there quite a bit %26amp; his rooms have always been very nice. They%26#39;re comped so I don%26#39;t know if that means he gets nicer ones or not, but he%26#39;s never had anything bad to say about his stays.

Can anyone give me other suggestions on what fun and...

We are going to Vegas 4/24-4/29 and will be staying at the New York New York Hotel. We booked tickets for the Blue Man Group, Mystere and the Strip helicopter ride. Can anyone suggest other things to do in Vegas. Also what are great buffets in Vegas preferably in the Strip that offers seafood and non-seafood.

    Thanks

Can anyone give me other suggestions on what fun and...

take extra $300. and go for big one pull win in high $$$. slots

drink service is lot better there than at $.05 slots,

    you may win big.

or you will be able talk about beer that cost you $305.00 ($5.00 tip)

    this will be memorable thing

Can anyone give me other suggestions on what fun and...

    Liberace museum, star trek museum

also check out ';cheapo vegas '; for things to do

    Thanks again

    craps lessons downtown?

I have read and heard alot about playing craps; however

I have also been told it is really a fast game and that I

would be lost. Does anywhere downtown offer lessons

    maybe early in the morning?

    thanks in advance.

    craps lessons downtown?

Ask the Craps table boss do they have lesson, usually most do have in the morning time. They wouldn%26#39;t mine showing you how to play so they can take your money. How I learn was standing by the table for 10 - 15 min. It%26#39;s very easy to pick up the basic part of the game. But all that betting in the middle table is a bit still confussing to me.

    craps lessons downtown?

a couple suggestions. first, play on the internet so you get the basic concepts down. you can play for free on some sites. next, if you can, stand next to someone you know on a slow table who can show you what he%26#39;s doing. the dealers are always willing to tell you what to do, especially if the table is slow. and, i guess lessons at a casino wouldn%26#39;t be a bad idea. lastly, there are only a few bets that you want to make - those are the bets with a minimum advantage to the casino. any book will tell you what they are. there are a ton of bets that you should never make, like all of the bets in the center of the table. so, you don%26#39;t need to learn what they are. in a nutshell, you only want to make pass line bets and come bets. with full odds on them. sounds more confusing than it is but it does take a little while to get used to it. it%26#39;s worth it though, by far the most exciting game in the casino. nothing comes close.

Golden Nugget has lessons Wed and Fri 11:15 a.m. they are 45 minutes long. Stardust has them M-F 10a-6p. Just in case you think it might take you longer than 45 minutes to learn the game. And I bet it will.

    hey parkertam,

you can play craps for free here.

    http://gotogoldenpalace.com/

    sipe

    Parkertam,

Learn the bets online. Then go to a lesson or a empty/slow table to learn in the morning. Craps isn%26#39;t really difficult to learn if you actually know the bet odds before you go. Keep in mind that craps has some of the best (pass w/odds and come w/odds) and worst (Big 6 and Big 8) bets in the casino.

  • best place in june heat

i d like to know wich hotel have it all in the summer heat,i know ny ny is cool but no pool, flamingo has a great pool but nothin special about the rest of it,so wich ones have everything

    best place in june heat

Huh, NYNY has a pool as most hotels do.. IMO there is no perfect Hotel, if there were it would be called Pleasantville:-)

Just pick a hotel that suites your budget, attracts a crowd that favors you, and has the facilities you need. Places with the best pools will have lots of children, perfect, right? I think it is impossible to find a perfect Hotel, that is why you visit of casinos while staying at another.

    best place in june heat

    Try Mirage !

It is still on my to-do list, but the reviews I%26#39;ve read are very favorable with everything included very highly rated especially their pool !

Mirage is hard to beat if the real high-end hotels are too expensive. Upscale scene without being a budget-buster.

As for pools, I%26#39;d rather spend time at an ';average'; pool with a great crowd (i.e. active adults young and old) than a ';Disneyworld'; pool swamped with children. To each his/her own!

check out cheapovegas.com. great reviews of everything at each hotel, including pools. i know what you mean - the pool is a big deal especially in june. i sit out there for 3-4 hours a day getting tan and trying to be discreet about looking at the ladies. anyhow, mirage is a real good call. good pool, good hotel. it%26#39;s hard not to like staying there.

    sqlight,

You%26#39;re looking at this wrong. The pool is one of the only amenities you can%26#39;t buy your way into. If you want to use the Venetian spa, buy a service and you%26#39;re in. If you want to use the Flamingo pool, you have to be a guest. Your resort choice doesn%26#39;t have to have it all, it just needs to meet your budget and offer the amenities that you desire that are included in the room rate.

    Q for VM re Stardust

VegasMan, I heard that the StarDust had an affiliation with the Par*A*Dice Casino in Peoria, IL. Is that true?

    Q for VM re Stardust

Why do people ask such silly questions when all they have to do is google the two casinos and can see Boyd Gaming owns both of them.

    Q for VM re Stardust

Oops sorry. Didn%26#39;t mean to bog down the forum with %26#39;stupid%26#39; questions.

tut, don%26#39;t worry about it. 90% of all questions here could be answered with a google search, a search of the website of the hotel in question, or an e-mail to %26#39;concierge@(fill in the hotel name)%26#39;.

But what fun would that be?

What ever happened to polite conversation....

    Thanks Drake.

Maybe I should have elaborated on my original post. I live within 45 minutes of the Par*A*Dice Casino and had never heard of any affiliations with other casinos. I heard thru the grapevine that Par*A*Dice was affiliated with StarDust. Peoria Airport has Allegiant Air that flys straight to Las Vegas. Between the airline and Peoria casino, I would have thought they would have included the StarDust affiliation in their marketing plan somehow.

I%26#39;m taking a trip to Peoria for a week in May. Is it worth it to visit this Par*A*Dice casino?

There really isn%26#39;t much in Peoria to see, IMO. Par*A*Dice was a moving River Boat Casino that is now docked. It%26#39;s smokey and small. But if you like to gamble, then stop in.

Both are owned by Boyd Gaming. We get a few guests that are refered by the hosts of the properties in the Midwest. That%26#39;s about all the cross marketing we do.

  • Just got back....

Hello Everyone, we returned on Saturday night after spending four nights at the Venetian. I don%26#39;t want to bore everyone with every detail, but if anyone has any questions, let me know.

    The Basics...

Sedan/Limo to Venetian for two for $47 total.

Requested upgrade at Venetian for Venezia tower, got it. No $20 trick necessary, just polite.

Great dinners, Prime Steakhouse, Sushi Roku, Canelleto.

One great show- %26#39;O%26#39;, one terrible show %26#39; V %26#39;.

Used monorail, good idea, just not that convenient.

Played in low stakes Hold%26#39;em tourny at Luxor. ( finished 50th out of 76)...terrible.

Very nice trip, it was the %26#39;last hurrah%26#39; trip for myself and pregnant wife.

    Any questions?

    Rusty

    Just got back....

Forgot to mention, we went to Canyon Ranch spa at the Venetian, Couples massage ( prenatal for her, reg for me) She also got a pedicure. Pricey, but worth it. We also had ';limited View'; seats at %26#39;O%26#39; Perfect seats, no complaints, show was not obstructed at all for us. Paid $93 each, person next to me paid $125.

    Just got back....

What was wrong with the ';V'; show? That is one we were thinking of seeing in April.

    Taxbills,

You seem to roll on the highend. Can you give me a blow by blow of Prime?

Some friends and I are thinking of playing in the Luxor tournament. Would you recommend it? Is it a nice room? Do we need to register early?

    Thanks!

    Alice

What section and seats were your O show tickets? I%26#39;m going and May and I was concerned the limited view seats. I forget what section they were in.

    Thanks!

    Sorry for late responses...

First off, the %26#39;V%26#39; show was a bit corny, had a not-so-funny comedian, a couple of Russian acrobats (they were pretty good) a juggler and some basketball dribblers. The show just seemed like something you would see at a circus. I bought two tickets on Ebay for $40. I am just glad I didn%26#39;t pay the full price.

Tickets to %26#39;O%26#39; were section 203 Row P seats 11-12. My wife sat on the isle, she is 5%26#39;2'; and her view wasn%26#39;t obstructed. Plus, there is so much going on during the show that you are not just looking straight, you are looking up down, side to side. Great deal. Are seats were almost center stage second level.

Prime steakhouse was amazing. We got seats next to the window, we saw the fountain show about six times during dinner and it never got old, it is different everytime. The view is amazing from our seats. The food was great, had a filet, wife had some glazed duck thing, we shared broccili and mashed potatoes. Shrimp cocktail app, glass of middle-of-the-road scotch, lemonade for the preg wife= $150.

In my opinion, I would not wander off the the Steakhouse at cc which is brought up quite a bit on this site. If I am on vacation with my wife, we want to eat somewhere special with great food, service, atmosphere, location and view. Plus we ate there just before seeing %26#39;O%26#39;. No offense to the steakouse cc lovers, just my opinion.

The Luxor tourney is small. I signed up at 11am they gave me a seat assignment and told me to be back at 11:45. There were 73 players and it goes by pretty fast. They are constantly raising the blinds. Fun way to experience a tournament setting for only $25.

I am going back there in late April for a bachelor party and 20 of us our having our own tourny there, they host it for free, so I wanted to check it out. Do it, it is worth it.

Hope I answered your questions, let me know If I can help any further.

    Rusty

    Taxills,

Did you book directly with the Venetian or through someone else?

    Baileybaby,

I booked directly through the Venetian. $149/nt Tues, Wed and $189/ nght thurs, and friday with passes to Canyon Ranch Spa, tickets to Museum and 20% off selected restaurants.

Asked for an upgrade to Venezia tower when we arrived, she hesitated a bit saying they were booked. I asked again very politely if she was sure there wasn%26#39;t anything available. She %26#39;found%26#39; something.

The person next to me was trying to book three nights there, they said the rate was $279/nght for Venetian tower, and $329/night for Venezia. So I got a good deal.

Thanks so much for positng your review.

Please let me know how you liked the Venezia Towers?

    Thanks,

    LvVegas

ps. Congrats, best wishes, and just the best for you (parents) and baby!

    Thanks LVvegas,

the Venezia tower suites were great. A bit of a walk to all the action, but that is the only complaint. I still got confused on our last day! You do need to access two seperate elevators to get to your room. The suites are decorated a bit nicer than the Venetian tower and the %26#39;Turn down service%26#39; is incredible! Housekeeping would clean our rooms while we were away during the days. When we arrived back to our room for the night, the the bed would be turned down, the canopy accent light lit, all the lights were dimmed, the radio was turned to classical station and turned down and chocalates were left on our pillows! I thought that was pretty cool.

We had a great time and my wife was never uncomfortable being pregs, in fact, there were numerous pregnant women there.

    Sushi Restaurants???

Looking for some help in finding a good sushi restaurant, either on the strip, or downtown. I%26#39;m open to an all you can eat, or a reasonably priced a la carte restaurant that serves fresh sushi. Like the ';Steakhouse'; @ Circus Circus, What is the comparable Sushi restaurant that offers great prices/quality fish? Thanks for the help!

    Doug

    Sushi Restaurants???

Never been, but someone on this forum suggested Todai in the Aladdin..they said it was pretty good..it is a buffet

    Sushi Restaurants???

Nobu at Hard Rock and Sushi Roku at Caesar%26#39;s Forums Shops are top notch. I haven%26#39;t tried Todai at the Aladdin, but I%26#39;ve tried the Todais in CA, and better sushi is to be found elsewhere.

The luncheon buffet at The Bellagio has great sushi. (I paid $17.95 and ate about $100 worth of sushi!)

I am very picky about sushi, and found the 777 BrewPub at Main Street Station has a sushi bar (they say it%26#39;s the only downtown sushi). The fish was firm, flavorful and very cold. The sushi chef took his time making it, it wasn%26#39;t mass produced. I will definatly go back next trip.

The prices were very reasonable compared to what I pay here in the SF bay area (about half the price). If I remember correctly, the California Roll was about $6.50, and a special roll was about $12. A hand roll was $4, I think.

There is a sushi bar one can sit at, or you can order it at the table. The 777 has a fun, loud atmosphere and the other food is great. If you%26#39;re looking for a Japanese restaurant with a quiet atmosphere, this is not the place.

The sushi bar at Aladdin is actually called Bonsai. The quality is OK, but the prices are high. Not a bad meal if you are getting comped, but I wouldn%26#39;t pay their prices based on what I received.

';Very cold'; is usually not a good adjective for sushi :) I believe it should be served correctly at room temperature or just slightly colder.

    LOL.

I guess it was my way of saying it didn%26#39;t taste as if it had been sitting around a while like you sometimes find in a restaurant that isn%26#39;t soley Japanese. The fish was still cold from having just been sliced. The rice, however, was not cold, it was room temp.

Just returned, went to Sushi Roku in Ceasars (Forum Shops) on Friday night. It was excellent! Great rolls, apps, service, atmosphere and view of strip.

i read a couple good posts about the all you can eat sushi at the aladdin. i%26#39;m going to try it. i like the sushi to be cold, rice room temperature. cold is good.

just found this, good review of todai at the aladdin. i%26#39;m going to pig out at this place.

Where can I eat a quacker?

Even though my Thai/Vietnamese restaurant question got no responses, I thought I%26#39;d try again. Where in Vegas can I get a good roast duck to eat? I%26#39;m visiting next week. Thanks.

Where can I eat a quacker?

There is a place called Lotus of Siam that is supposed to be one of the best Thai restaraunts in the country. I%26#39;ve never been so I can%26#39;t vouch for it, but here%26#39;s the info

    953 E Sahara

    702-735-3033

If you go %26amp; enjoy it, let me know please

Where can I eat a quacker?

Thanks, I may check that out. But now I also want to know where I can eat a yummy yummy duck. Is it common in most steak houses? In most restaurants? Or do i need to seek it out specifically?

Go to China Town. Plenty of authentic Asian restaurants, some serving duck.

Is ';Aladdin'; about to turn into a construction site?

I just hopped onto the Frommers site and their review of the Aladdin said that Planet Hollywood (new owners) intended to ';rename, remodel and restyle the property';.

Can anyone enlighten me as to when this is likely to occur - or has construction started already? And any hints on how long the revamp is likely to take?

I%26#39;m from Melbourne, Australia, and will be visiting Vegas in October this year (I%26#39;m planning ahead, as you can see!). I was thinking a stay at Aladdin might be fun (and reasonably priced), but should I be looking elsewhere?

    Judy

Is ';Aladdin'; about to turn into a construction site?

    Hi

I%26#39;m already booked for Aladdin in October %26amp; the posts on this forum have been far more informative than my travel agent who has no idea %26amp; in fact didn%26#39;t even know that this was going to happen! I am a bit worried....have stayed in Aladdin before %26amp; really liked it %26amp; am taking friends this time. According to previous posts, work starts this June in the Sports book section of the casino floor %26amp; will carry on in a so called ';pie shape'; around the casino for starters. What I%26#39;ve not been able to ascertain is what is construction is planned for early Oct , ie will the pool, rooms, Desert Passage shops or external fascia of the building be affected?

I got a great deal for Aladdin, now I know why!

I believe that the work will be completed next summer....does anyone know different?

    Thanks

I was brought up in Buchanhaven, Dingwall Drive to be precise! We%26#39;re off to Vega on 21 April and I can%26#39;t wait. It%26#39;s years since I was this excited about a holiday.

    When are you off?

    luci5

you will have a great time. i am going back in may (4th time) cant wait

Hay Crescent born and bred. We are off on the 25 April, go down from Ab to Gatwick night before. 4days in Mesquite with bus tours, 4 days in Laughlin again with bus trips and last 4 days in Vegas. Just thought I could pick you brains when you got back but we%26#39;ll be there around same time. Going for long/

    this your first time? gattjt@aol.com

That%26#39;s a pity you%26#39;ll be in Mesquite or we could have had a mini meet.

Been to Vegas once before 17 years ago. We did a tour including Los Angeles and San Francisco. We just winged it the last time, no forward planning and knew nothing about it, but we still enjoyed it. No internet then.

We are flying Aberdeen -%26gt; Amsterdam -%26gt; Minneapolis -%26gt; Vegas. Staying at the IP, cheap and cheerful to leave money for eating, gambling and shopping. Booked with Expedia and got a really good price.

This time I have read so much about it that I%26#39;m starting to get confused. We%26#39;ve booked to see Mystere and Mamma Mia, planning to eat at the Steakhouse at CC, Main Street Station, Paris and Aladdin, can%26#39;t remember all the other recommendations. Going to gamble a little bit, but probably just on the slots and some VP. Hoping to take some BJ lessons, but don%26#39;t think I%26#39;ll be confident enough to actually play. Should be fun learning though.

You seem to have planned to see and eat at the same places we have mapped out. Fairly a big help the internet for these type of things, used it 6 months ago for a cruise we were on,

knew exactly what to do and see each place we berthed at.

Appears we have picked (pure luck by us) one of the best times of the year to go to LV, not too hot, not too busy etc.

soon find out anyway. Don%26#39;t spend all your money in one

  • Legit Tattoo Places?

I%26#39;ve been wanting a tattoo for as long as I can remember. I%26#39;m going to be in LV in a few weeks and for some reason, it seems like the right time to do this. I have to admit my partner isn%26#39;t all too thrilled but it means a lot to me for several reasons.

Anyway, I am sure this has been covered several to many times but where, on the strip if possible, is there a reputable tattoo parlor? Price is not object.

    Legit Tattoo Places?

Sorry ladyfoxe I cant recommend a shop.

I can recommend that you look around at every shop and feel good that the artist you choose can translate what you have in mind. Whether its your design our you choose theirs, make sure its what you had in mind. Hope this helped.

    Matt

    Legit Tattoo Places?

Thanks for your advice. I sort of know what I want - a fox. It is my totem animal :-) Now it is just a matter of finding someone good to do it I guess.

    I appreciate your input!

    Nice totem

    Sly like a....

I saw an interview with the Palms management and they said they were going to put a tattoo place right off their casino. I don%26#39;t know their time frame but you might want to check.

    Don%26#39;t do it on vacation!

You will only be able to take a real quick daily shower for the first week after a tattoo, so that will rule out swimming, saunas, hot-tubs etc.

No sun for up to two weeks after.

It will be covered with saran wrap for the first day, then you will have to massage it up to 6 times daily with lotion.

Sometimes even with the best artists you may need to have it touched up at a later date, handy if your artist is local to you.

As a tattoo owner I advise enjoy your Vegas vacation and get (and deal with) your tattoo at home!

    Bodacious great advice!

I was thinking about doing it near to the end of the vacation. I am not a sun worshipper at all so staying out of the sun afterwards is no problem (I live on the east coast and it is still quite cold here).

Also, I do not use the pool in LV either. No less, I just found out that the hotel we%26#39;re staying is renovating theirs anyway.

And last, I do intend to visit a spa early in the trip only.

But...your advice, if I don%26#39;t do it now will serve me very well if I do it later in the year as summer approaches!

    Thanks again!

    Thanks

What time roughly is sunset in vegas in April/May

Sunset on 4/30 is 7:27pm local time. Sunset on 5/31 is 7:52pm. Add/subtract a minute, give or take, for each day on either side of these.

Mamma Mia 45bucks tickets - back two rows

just wondering if anyone has seen this show in the back two rows - the boyfriend hates ABBA music and will be reluctant to pay anymore!!!!!!!!!

Mamma Mia 45bucks tickets - back two rows

Where did you get the 45 buck price? Is that standard for the bck of the theatre. I haven%26#39;t seen Mamma Mia yet, however most of the shows I%26#39;ve seen do not have many bad seats. The theatres are smaller than you think. At least that%26#39;s my experience. We got $60 seats to see Mystere. Can%26#39;t wait for that.

I would definately pay 45 to see Mamma Mia. That%26#39;s relatively cheap for LV shows.

Mamma Mia 45bucks tickets - back two rows

on the mandalay bay website. the cost is showing $45 plus taxes/surcharges etc for the back two rows

the rows before are 75 plus taxes etc and they go up from there

We have not seen Mamma Mia in Vegas, but we did see it in New York and we loved the show. There is alot of Abba music though. You are probably smart to pay $45.00. If your boyfriend hates the music you won%26#39;t be out alot of money. I think you will both love the showl

    i was told that most seats are pretty good. its a good show. not just an abba tribute. this was on my list of NOT to do untill i lookd into further and now i cant wait! just tell ya fella ';knowing me knowing you aha this is something i want to do ooo hoo';

Meg, my sister and her boyfriend saw this in LV last year I think; he apparently hates ABBA too but loved the show. Said it was lots of fun. This doesn%26#39;t answer your question about the tickets but at least it%26#39;s testimony :)

Paid $125.00 Great view of the stage, show was FANTASTIC! But I like ABBA music. $45.00 I think is a great price there really isnt a bad seat in the house Im sure had I known then what I know now about the show and the theater I would have been happy with $45.00 tickets

okay i don%26#39;t know where you got that price, but take it! we saw mama mia june 2004- @ 82.00 each-I don%26#39;t think there is a bad seat in the house. my hubby went kicking and screaming the same crap about not like Abba-by the end of the show he was tapping his feet-then standing for the final!! a week later he bought the soundtrack i won%26#39;t let him live it down. i also love to hear those words ';you were right';!! have a great time!:)

I%26#39;ve been trying the Mandalay Bay site, but can%26#39;t get any of the links to work.....

Thanks for the heads up about the $45 tickets MegW! I%26#39;ve just booked for our trip in April and got tickets for the centre section at the back. We both like ABBA music so really looking forward to it. Tickets cost $53 each with taxes and services charge.

Can%26#39;t find any reviews of the show on here though.

i booked for next week for 49,95 with tax and fee

    thanks for the tip.

    Jimmy Buffet in Vegas??

I see Jimmy Buffet is scheduled to play at MGM early April.

Just curious, is he a regular?

    Jimmy Buffet in Vegas??

He usually has a show at least once a year here %26amp; stops in from time to time at Margaritaville %26amp; Tommy Rockers

    Jimmy Buffet in Vegas??

    shenanagans

Is the las Veagas Margarittaville his bar? I think he has one in the Keys? Not for sure on that one.

I saw him a few times he puts on a good show.

Yes it%26#39;s part of his chain. We were in there when it first opened %26amp; he showed up %26amp; played a set, it was pretty cool. His shows out here are usually pretty good. I wasn%26#39;t expecting a whole lot because I%26#39;d only seen him in outdoor venues, but the MGM back lot turns into a huge preparty tailgate %26amp; then they just move the party inside.

Thanks, we will have to check the bar out when we get to L.V.

His concerts are wild. I have only seen him outdoors.

Las Vegas Mailing Lists / Coupons

Does anyone know of any good websites or phone numbers where you can sign up and receive tourist pamphlets in the mail about specials going on during a certain month, coupons, or any additional ';tourist'; information. I know that i have received them in the past but I cant remember from where. I already received someting from the chamber of commerce, but it was pretty much just a map of the area. I kind of like to plan ahead of time, but hate not knowing what is going on that week until i get there.

Las Vegas Mailing Lists / Coupons

There are free mags in vegas that they have all over the place. If you go to http://todayinlv.com/ they will send you a copy 2 weeks before your trip date with things going on the week you will be there. Another one is http://www.lvshowbiz.com/, but it costs money to get sent to you.

I guess you snooze you loose b/c withing 24 hours the prices have all climbed up dramatically for April 5-8. We are now reconsidering going to the Rio (my hubby wants a nice room and they have all suites) or Palms. Any reviews appreciated. Also anyone think we are making a mistake staying off the strip??

Have to make reservation today... Palms or Rio???? The...

MOK I always stay off the strip if you have a car it works well , and there are alot of great Hotels out there at a good price just enjoy yourself which ever you choose I have friends that always stay at Rio and they love it.

    Mom

Have to make reservation today... Palms or Rio???? The...

If you want a suite, go to Rio. If you want 20 somethings go to Palms. Why would it be a mistake staying off-strip? Rio has a shuttle that will get you there in 5-minutes.

Will pools be open on March 29-31?

We will be at Bellagio on March 29-31st. Will the pool be open? Will it be warm enough then?

Will pools be open on March 29-31?

I found out that the hotel I am at already has the pool open, Your best bet would to just call before you leave and make sure or not.

Will pools be open on March 29-31?

Yes. They have one pool open year round ';weather permitting'; but the entire complex opens by the middle of March.

aladdin%26#39;s pool was open this past weekend.

You can go to www.accuweather.com for 15 day forecast. I don%26#39;t know how accurate it is that far out but so far looks great - 80 degrees %26amp; sunny. I don%26#39;t know about you but that is pool weather for me!

We were at the Bellagio last year beginning of March %26amp; they had a pool open already.

Folies Bergere Tickets Thru Tropicana Players Club

Does anyone know how long and at what level of play you need to play at to receive free Folies Bergere tickets after you sign up for the players club card at Tropicana? Is anyone aware of any 2 for 1 for this show or other discounts? Thanks for any info you have!!

Folies Bergere Tickets Thru Tropicana Players Club

I don%26#39;t remember how long/what level you had to play to get tickets, but i know it was longer than I was willing to play. It seems like it was 2-4 hrs. just to get the free t-shirt. Try spinning the giant wheel outside (there are 2 locations). I%26#39;ve won 2-for-1 tickets my last two times in Vegas. This show is definitely worth it if you get the free ticket! Also, the local magazines/coupon books usually have a $10 off coupon in them.

Folies Bergere Tickets Thru Tropicana Players Club

So nickel video poker for a couple hours probably won%26#39;t get it done huh?!?! Thanks for the info.

    Dueling Pianos

I have read that the dueling pianos at NY NY are the best. Is this true ? Is there a cover charge to get in ? Anyone know what days and time the ';duel'; is on?

    Thank You !

    Dueling Pianos

The duel starts every night at 8 and goes late (2?) There is no cover before 8, but I heard the place is real small.

Were going next week and were gonna get there about 6 and try and get a seat--Monday night--I heard it is the best drunken sign along in the country...

    Dueling Pianos

HAHA best darn drunken sign along I%26#39;ve ever been to

    Is it Mondays only?

    thanks

I heard they had that at Harrah%26#39;s also.

    '; Sing Along '; you mean ? :-)

It%26#39;s a $10 cover, I thought it was every night but I%26#39;m not sure.

No cover weekdays for sure at Times Square at NYNY before 8, 10 bucks after, but you might not get in at all after 8 or 9

Harrahs might have one as well, but NYNY is the best, hands down.

i like the twins at harrahs more, no cover beer is $4.50

there may be one at riveria have not seen it.

The cover is actually $20 on the weekends atleast.

Hold on hold on- the NYNY (NOT Harrahs) piano bar is NOT FREE?

    Is there a cover charge?

    If so how much weekdays/weekends?

What time IS it free (if at all)?

    airline prices

how much does the cost of fuel go in to the price of the ticket??

i ask this becouse everyone knows gas is going up so is this a good time to buy or do i wait it out ??

    airline prices

Southwest has raised its fares by $1 to $3 one-way in most markets.

Several major airlines have increased fares in the past two weeks by as much as $20 each way to offset the soaring cost of jet fuel. The second fare increase in as many weeks was initiated Thursday by Northwest Airlines and broadly matched by many of its competitors, including American, America West, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Air Canada.

  • Stardust question

How are the west tower suite rooms??? Are they worth 40 more a night.

    Stardust question

They are worth 40 more a night vs the Villa rooms. The east tower is ok, 8 floors tall and they have balconies. The Villas are the oldest rooms on the property.

    Stardust question

My wife and I stayed at the stardust 2-3 years ago and got a balcony in the older tower. However the view wasn%26#39;t one overlooking the pool but of the roof of the sportsbook which was a drag. And of course I tried everything to get a room move but they are really tight at the desk and would not accomodate us. We had a problem with housekeeping and they gave us a bunch of buffet passes. We were sick of the buffet and of the hotel. I hear it%26#39;s going downhill. Didn%26#39;t like the gaming and the craps dealers. When I was winning with another player and having fun, the dealers treated us rudely in the evening and we just got out. I will never go there again. Their slots were too tight as well just like their desk staff. There should be a sign that says: '; You get what we give you so take it. Thank You, the Management';.

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Stardust back in 1995 and again a couple of years ago (hoping it had improved) and it has not. The first time, our wall in our room was literally falling apart (big hole in one of the walls and fromica-type sawdust on the floor below the hole) and the place was empty - no excitement at all. Ironically, the pool was pretty decent but not enough to make me return. It%26#39;s also too far from the main part of the Strip. I wish they%26#39;d rennovate this hotel, it has so much history and should be alot more for the money. Just my opinion.

well.... stardust was good to me, was there last dec . on free night lva deal,

got n/s king 5th floor standard room. check in-out very quick and easy, i dont spend time looking out window, took quick look it was parking area.

the karaoke that night was good and beer was less than some other strip casinos $3.50 i think. my set $$ for play was gone for day so did not try table games there

    .

    yes would stay there again

    Cali and Yo,

Sorry your stays at the Stardust were not what we as employees would hope. They have made a lot of improvements over the last year and a half. They brought in a new GM who is a lot more hands on than the old boss was. They have remodeled parts of the casino (Poker room, high limit slots, new carpeting all over). And a lot of personnel changes have taken place. Buffet has even improved some. Each night is a different theme. (Italian, Mexican, BBQ, Seafood...)

Hope you might come by and at least give the casino a chance.

    Joe

Vegas Man, based upon your expertise on the Stardust, I trust your opinion and I think I will give it another try.

I will be down there a week from Friday. Any chance we could sit at your table or buy you a drink?

I also forgot to mention that I do very much enjoy the bar/lounge there at the Stardust (the one right by the doors to the pool).

    Cali,

You are refering to the Terrace Bar. You are certainly welcome to come and play at any of our tables. As to where I%26#39;ll be working on Friday, I find that out when I arrive that day. They use me in a couple of different capacities. I could be in the Craps pit watching one game all day. Or I could be the person giving the other supervisors their breaks in the Craps or 21 pit. Just need to ask or look for me.

    Joe

    Will do. :)

  • MGM Grand-West wing or standard room?

    Hi,

Has anyone stayed here? Can they offer some advice as to which wing to stay in? The difference is $40 between the two.

Also: I noticed from some of the reviews that when people book rooms in Vegas, they often request a certain wing or part of the hotel. Does one do this on check-in, or should one do this upon booking the reservation?

    Thanks so much,

    S1 :)

MGM Grand-West wing or standard room?

Are the West Wing rooms $40 cheaper or more expensive?

When I was at MGM in October, they were in the process of renovating their ';Emerald Tower,'; which had housed the lowest-priced rooms. I%26#39;m been told that the Emerald Tower was part of an earlier hotel that stood on the property MGM bought.

This must be their new ';West Wing.'; Looking at the website I would guess that the rooms are smaller than Grand Tower rooms, but they look pretty nice nevertheless. Being freshly renovated is a big plus.

Blue Man Group - Seating Issues

I am planning on getting tickets for this show. As far as the seats/view, is it really any better to pay the extra money to get closer or in the center?

    Thanks!

Blue Man Group - Seating Issues

With the BIG screens they use to broadcast the show. Paying extra to be up close is not necesary. If you, or the others with which you will see the show are claustrophobic, sit to the back. During the show you are covered in paper at one point and the closer to the front you sit the more you%26#39;ll have on top of you. Bring a camera for pictures of the Blue Men in the lobby after the show.

Blue Man Group - Seating Issues

Thank you...is it fairly small venue? I was having a hard time deciding when I was looking at the seating chart.

    :)

I saw the show last October and sat in the back. We weren%26#39;t able to see their facial expressions very well which made the show loss a little bit of the comedy factor.

I am going back next month and I have 5th row seats in the center. I%26#39;ll let you know how that seats compared.

I never thought about being covered by all that paper being in the front. hmmmm

I am going to see BMG on 3/21. Going to be about 18 rows back, smack in the middle. Will let you know how they were!

Sarah, I saw BMG in January, and had a good time. It is somewhat interactive, and you may even be picked to go up on stage! As VM says, pics and autographs in the lobby after the show were easy to come by. The guys are extremely likeable. As far as seating, all three guys come into the audience, and they even went all the way to the back. I just wouldn%26#39;t sit in the first 12 rows, because of the paint splatter potential, but you do get plastic to cover you if you choose those seats. I had mid theater, center, and was happy. Have a great time!!

Not sure when you are going but we have tickets for 4/11/05 main floor row K-seat 48%26amp;49. I will let you know how they are.

We saw them last summer and were in about the 4th (or 5th) row center - I think it%26#39;s definitely better to be close. We ordered the tickets from BillHere at VegasResource.com. He gets the first 8 available tickets to any show in town so you are guaranteed good seats. I highly recommend getting the tickets there.

We saw them Saturday night, and sat in the sixth row to the right of the stage as you face it.

Personally, I thought it was worth the difference. We were the first row behind the splash zone, and the row in front of us was empty. When the blue men would go into the audience, the one on the right side stood directly in front of us, in fact, he climbed onto my arm rest, and put a blue thumb print on my daughter%26#39;s knee. He stood in front of us two or three times during the night, even giving my wife a lengthy stare during one of the audience member selections.

As a tip, they have free ear plugs in a large bowl when you enter the theater. I recommend that you take one for each of your party. You don%26#39;t have to use them, but it%26#39;s sure nice to have them handy when the music kicks up. And like someone else said, bring a camera for after the show.

Thank you everyone! I am going the first week of April. I just had read some mixed reviews from people saying there was no problem seeing in the back to you can%26#39;t see their faces. The price difference wasn%26#39;t huge but I didn%26#39;t want to spend extra $ if it wasn%26#39;t worth it, ya know? :)

    San Remo or Stratosphere?

Planning a trip for mid-May. It%26#39;s a toss-up, price wise, between these 2. Strat is a bit cheaper, but SR seems to be a better location....any advice?

    San Remo or Stratosphere?

If you do go with the strat, location isn%26#39;t too much of a problem, as there is the monorail running the strip from Sahara to MGM.

    San Remo or Stratosphere?

if your going to rent car i would go with strat,

    no car ? sr.

b.t.w. hooters is taking over s.r., its good thing s.r. is not fun casino maybe get some life in that place

Returned this week.....went into San Remo casino on last day mainly checking out various places in anticipation of return visit.

San Remo is on my %26#39;would never stay here...even for free%26#39; list. This was a friday and the casino was lifeless, atmosphere unappealing, any staff I dealt with disinterested. Also really small.

Vegas is such a great place, hate to see you not get the most out of your visit. Suggest almost any place other than SR. Others on this forum have talked about Barbary Coast....have you checked their rates......it is an excellent location and I believe pretty reasonable pricewise, but have no personal experience, just picked up on opinions on this forum.

If you are a beginner and plan to play table games, stay at the Remo. The last post mentioned what it was like on a Friday night, this is true. This also means you can practice there on low min ($2 BJ 24/7). If not, and you have a car, stay at the Strat. The Strat has much better dinning options, but the Remo is a two min walk from MGM, Tropicana, etc...

Stayed at San Remo in April 2004. I liked it. The $2 tables are always open, but they are frequently filled. Other than that, the casino is pretty dead. The rooms are decent sized and clean. The prime rib special is very good for the price. The location is not as good as Center Strip IMO, but for South Strip it%26#39;s great. The Strat is just too far north for me.

I%26#39;ve stayed at the ';ream-you'; before. I don%26#39;t need anything fancy as I don%26#39;t plan on using the room for more than a few hours a night. All I need is somewhere to rest my head at night and a place to shower in the morning. Location wise, I think I%26#39;ll take the SR again. I%26#39;ve heard the monorail is not that convenient.

    back from vegas

You were right again, who ever wrote in about southwest airlines,we were very dissapointed with our flight and also to think triple A did our intenary,we were green to the fact of dealing with them and thinking we would get the best of deals and treatment,VERY VERY DISAPOINTED.....

    back from vegas

Sorry for your bad experience. Without this forum, I would have been unable to make my own plans but everything worked out great by following all the great advice here. Isn%26#39;t it amazing that the experts let you down.

Don%26#39;t give up on Vegas.....next time do your own planning....I found great room rates and great air fares. Takes a little time but worth it.

Do you mind sharing more of your experience? Helps to know what to avoid.

    back from vegas

    Floridatraveler,

Just curious.. what was wrong with Southwest Airlines?? I fly with them quite frequently and I have never had a problem..I travel between New Orleans- Orlando and New Orleans-Tampa about 7 or 8 times during the year. I even flew to Vegas with them last year and was very enjoyable..For me, they are the cheapest, offer a wide selection of direct flights, and you if need to change flights for whatever reason they don%26#39;t charge you a penalty. I only wish they assigned seats... I am sorry that you had a bad flight...hope your time in Vegas was better...Please share your experience with us...Thanks in advance..

    Sorry Luvbichons,

Maybe I%26#39;m just use to a little more class like Jet Blue,Delta,A.airlines.etc.

    Thanks Judy,

    You made me feal better.

We were there for 6 nites, and spent a lot of money, celebrating our 50th anniversary, playing slots, poker, let it ride, the only place i won was at the flamingo and that was peanuts.

Oh well we visit Biloxie, Miss. often and have a great time. We just had to see vegas, never been there,It was a good experience, and i can say i%26#39;ve been there.

Most people on this forum rave about Southwest Airlines, including me, as long as you understand the drill. However, if you booked with one of their travel pkgs, I%26#39;m not sure how that would work since I always book seperately.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

Wolfie that was my point exactly...never had a problem with Southwest that is why I was curious as to what happened. Now, if as you say are used to a little more class, then Excalibur should not have been your choice. I have never stayed at the Excalibur, but just from some of the reviews and their 3 star rating that would certainly not been my choice for my 50th. (which btw is a looong way off).. Bellagio, C Palace, TheHotel, and Venetian should have been top of your list...Bellagio, C Palace I can say from experience are very nice... I think maybe you didn%26#39;t have the best travel agent at AAA.. It is too bad that such a special event wasn%26#39;t all you planned it to be.... maybe when you go to Biloxi you can celebrate all over again..If you haven%26#39;t stayed at the Beau Rivage yet, I highly recommend it.....Happy Belated Anniversary and hope you have many happier ones to come!!

We have traveled with Southwest for over 10 yrs. now and have gone both vacation pkg. deals and booked everything seperately and never have had a problem with them. My husband also does all of his business travel with them. We went to Vegas over Christmas week and we booked with American Airlines instead of Southwest as they were a little cheaper at the time. NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!! My husband and I both said we will gladly pay the little extra to fly Southwest and get the direct flights. Every flight with American was late. Everytime we fly with Southwest they are on time or early. The only thing I don%26#39;t like about Southwest is that they don%26#39;t have the seating assignments but everything else is good.

I have flown Southwest before and never had a problem. However, when I booked my flight from St. Louis to Vegas, Southwest was over $800 for my wife and I and AA was only $512. I have flown AA a lot when I was working and only had two delays in the last 6 years one was due to a flat tire on a plane and the other was due to weather.

I booked my hotel etc through Southwest vacations and got much better rate than online through the hotel.

  • Suggestion for a good mexican restaurant?

My wife and I are travelling to Vegas in May for our anniversary. She LOVES Mexican food. Any suggestions for a good place on or off the strip? We are staying on the strip, but would glady take a cab for a great meal. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Suggestion for a good mexican restaurant?

The only advice I can give is DO NOT eat mexican food at

    MGM Hotel.

We spent our honeymoon in vegas and decided to eat mexican

here and it was the Worst Ever!!

    Hope this helps.

Suggestion for a good mexican restaurant?

Viva Mercados at Jones Blvd. %26amp; Flamingo in a litttle strip mall is the best. We always go there everytime we are in town. The atmosphere is wonderful as well as the food and they have a huge menu.

Bamboleo%26#39;s and Sao Paulo cafe both at The RIO featuring Mexican and Brazilian food.

I%26#39;ve eaten several times at MGM Mexican Restaurant - it is called Coyote Cafe, and it%26#39;s always been excellent, although a bit on the expensive side.

Macayo Restaurant has good Mexican food, but it%26#39;s off the strip, over off of Charleston. It is more of a traditional family restaurant and has great margaritas too.

Taqueria Canonita in the Venetian Grand Canal Shoppes is wonderful. The food was delicious and you can watch the gondolas go by and hear the gondoliers sing!

Either Don Miguels @ Orleans, or Lindo Michocan at 2665 E Desert Inn Rd. Stay off the strip for mexican

I second Tlstar%26#39;s recommendation. Ate there last year and it was extremely good and the location can%26#39;t be beat. They also have delicious fresh fruit drinks, aqua frescas, in really refreshing flavors - I had watermelon!

I third tlstar%26#39;s recommendation. Sorry we only had time for one meal at Taqueria Canonita at the Venetian. We ate lunch there on Sunday and it was delicious. And from what I could see and hear around me, everyone else thought the same. Definitely try to eat there once, either lunch or dinner - wasn%26#39;t too expensive and I do think you%26#39;ll enjoy the food and atmosphere.

They must have changed the name of the mexican restaurant

at the MGM because when we ate there it was not called

that. That was 3 years ago.

    just flew American West

hi I returned from vegas yesterday and said I would post about flying on this airline.

First let me say I was worried because I am a big person and you always hear horror stories abot people being denied boarding or having to pay for an extra seat. I am happy to say no one even gave me a second glance and in fact seemed to be very accomidating to me as I use a walker. I had no problem at either airport (flew from Detroit)

We arrived early and could upgrade to first class ..well worth the money as the extra leg room was a bonus and seat belt extenders was available with out even a second of hestation.

Would definatelly fly with them again.

Left on time and arrived early both ways( almost 1 hr early on the way down)

al in all good airline great price and terrific staff..american West should be proud!!!

    just flew American West

Sounds like you had an awesome flight. I have a brother who works for AWA and he is always bragging on their service. Which I didn%26#39;t believe until I flew with them solo.

I%26#39;m a plus sized lady and being able to get the extenders without a problem helped to ease my flight tension (I really don%26#39;t like to fly). I also sat in a packed plane, without issues from anyone as well.

Glad to hear you had a good trip.

  • Tropicana - Ask for an upgrade?

Thanks for all the buffet reccommendations...

I am going to Vegas for the first time the 28th to the 31st. My boyfriend and I are staying in a garden room at the Tropicana. I know the Trop is not the greatest hotel anymore, but honestly we couldnt afford much more. He is a poor college student and I am a beginning teacher who covered a good portion of his trip. (This is a 2 yr anniversary celebration!) I have read many reviews of the Tropicana and it sounds like it will be fine for us, we arent too picky. Just wanted to know if anyone has stayed there and wanted to know if we should request an upgrade from the garden room to a tower room. How likely is it that we will actually get one? and for how much? is it worth it?

Plus any other money saving techniques would be great. The less we spend on food and entertainment the more we have to playwith. So any advice on how to save would be appreciated. Thanks.

Tropicana - Ask for an upgrade?

check out www.cheapovegas.com Their hotel reviews are very unbiased and they seem to tell it like it is. Their recomendation is to get out of the garden room and upgrade.

    Good Luck!!

    atm Fees

I read somewhere that the fee to use an ATM machine is $6 per transaction ... is this true for all machines or only at select locations?

    atm Fees

In the hotel/casinos you will find that transaction fees can be high - usually based on the amount of $$ request. Some as much as 10% of what you ask for. If you go outside the hotel/casinos - find a ';normal'; ATM - fees range from $1.50 to $2.00.

Last time I was in Vegas, July 2004, private owned ATMs inside hotel and casinos averaged around $3-4. That does not include any fees your bank may charge you for not using their own ATMs.

Best bet is just to check your bank%26#39;s website for the closest ATM locations to where you will be.

Another tip, when you buy something at a store that accepts the ATM card, they usually offer you the option of CASH BACK. Use it to get whatever amount of money you need.

    -andy

At Luxor earlier this month the fee was $3 for a regular withdrawal. If you wanted a cash advance it was a percentage, starting at 11%, if I recall correctly.

Here are the 5 closest WASHINGTON MUTUAL ATMs to the Strip. The last I checked, they do not charge ATM fees to use their ATMs. Of course you may be charged by your own bank. Check with your bank in advance.

ATM by the cashiers cage in the Venetian was $3.

    vegasrookie,

Just make sure you get your cash before you head to the SC%26#39;s.

The ATM at Casino Royale only charged $1! I was shocked. Of course, that doesn%26#39;t rule out fees from your own bank.

WOW! Thanks for all the info.! It%26#39;s greatly appreciated!

Note that most banks only allow you to withdrawal $500 in a 24 hour period. For some people its ot a big deal. But it really stinks when you withdraw money at like 2am, get drunk, and lose it, and then cant gamble at all the next day. unless you wanna get acahs advace which have ridacalous fees.

Does anyone know where a US bank atm is?

Please give some info, reviews, etc on Luxor. will be staying there first week of june. A few of us just out of college guys.

    L-u-x-o-R

You will be impressed...Me and my hubby stayed there last April, i was 27 and him 32 and we loved it...It was sooo huge we didnt get to see it all but plan on exploring it a little more this trip..You will love the pool its gorgeous, and we stayed in a tower room..

Dont know if thats what you booked but we booked the pyramid and they upgraded for free...

    Have a good trip.

    Bella

    L-u-x-o-R

Also, do they have laundry services there? I will be staying for 8 days, so I may need to wash some stuff!

I%26#39;m not sure if they have laundry services there. I personally enjoyed my stay at the Luxor. It was myself and a few girlfriends. We asked to stay in the Pyramid and they gave that to us. Nefertiti%26#39;s Lounge was cool too. They had a live band there performing and their drinks were reasonable. I think you guys would have a great time there!

I hope you have a good job just of college if you%26#39;re going to be in Vegas for 8 days!

    Luxor is great.....you%26#39;ll like it.

They have the typical hotel laundry/dry cleaning service which means HIGH prices......something like 3.00 pair of socks or undies.

If you don%26#39;t mind me sounding like your mother, suggest packing lots of knit shirts that take up little space, lots of socks and underwear, and maybe 1 or 2 pair wrinkle-free trousers. Wouldn%26#39;t cost much just to keep the trousers laundered.

    Hi-

Just was at the Luxor 3/1/05 - 3/8/05

Beautiful hotel and has that dark, quiet, spooky appearance but we loved it. The RA club was packed everynight we were there even though there were not too many tourists in vegas at this time.

When booking I suggested the Tower Room but when i arrived i asked for an upgrade and even though she told me ';no complimentary upgrades are being given out at this time'; i slipped in a $20 and all of a sudden she was checking again!!! So we got the upgrade but she returned the $20 dollars. ( I think she was alittle confused or new) But i insisted that she take the $20!!!!

The weather now was fairly warm during the day 68 - 71F but did get rather cold at night (sweaters and sweatshirts for us) And did rain one evening and that night was VERY COLD!!! But, you%26#39;re going in June so probably doesn%26#39;t matter to you now!

Other than the Blue Man Group..there%26#39;s really nothing else interesting for your age froup. We did run through the King Tut Museum (complimentary on your stay) and did see the Haunted House and Sharks 3D imax movies and that%26#39;s all. Didn%26#39;t check out the band at the Nerferti because we weren%26#39;t fans of that music. BUT, there is a good band that plays at the Paris Hotel (sings songs you actually hear on the radios) and attracted a huge crowd. I think that lounge at the Paris needs to extend for there were people crwoding all around the railings!!!

Also went to see the ';O'; show!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!! I know you guys are from college but I am too and definately saved up to go and see this show!! If you think about it, you will probably spend $150 at the casino (if not more) so save that and go check out the show!!! (Bellagio) Also the Bellagio club is pretty packed and popular (sorry, forgot the name...I think it%26#39;s something %26#39;lights%26#39;) and you could see some famous peeps strolling around in there.

    Hope this helps!!!!

  • How to cancel and re-book hotel

I booked NY/NY for memorial day and now the rates have gone down and I%26#39;ll save about $90 if I book it now. How do I go about cancelling my previous reservation and re-booking at this new rate? Thanks for the help!

How to cancel and re-book hotel

Not sure if this helps, but I called the hotel when my rates went down. They adjusted it over the phone! BTW, I am staying at the Flamingo.

How to cancel and re-book hotel

If you booked directly with NYNY then you should be able to just call them.

Yes, call them now before your rate jumps up again. I did this at the Luxor and they just simply changed my booking to the new rate - no problem!

You can make another booking at the lower rate and then cancel the first booking (assuming you have 48hrs) before your arrival.

If you did it online, create a new booking to make sure you can get those rates before cancelling your old reservations.

First question - did you book through a third party and not directly with the hotel - many third party companys may charge a cancel fee - so check first. If they don%26#39;t, first book the new reservation and then cancel you old reservation. Make sure you have the new rate before you lose theold rate.

As Vegas Traveler said - if you booked with the hotel, contact them directly, and just let them know that you noticed a new lower rate and could you get it your reservation changed to the lower rate - usually they will do this with no major problem.

Note though that if the rate is lower, that means the room may

not be as nice as the one you originally booked - i.e. lower floor, maybe even ground floor - also when you arrive, if you ask for an upgrade, they will take a look at your history and see that you opted a lower rate - thus lessen your chance at a free upgrade.

Thanks for your help! I booked right through the hotel so I called them and they changed the rates for me with no problems. The guy was really nice. The rate that I got includes an upgrade so I%26#39;m not even going to bother asking for another one...I%26#39;m happy :)

    I have a question please

How far are the ff: sites from our hotel New York New York.

    Mystere at Treasure Island

Blue Man Group at the Luxor

We do not plan to rent a car and we r planning on just walking. If walking is not feasible, is their a bus/ transportation that will take us there.

    Again, many thanks to everyone.

    I have a question please

luxor is only a 10-15 minute walk. Treasure island is about a 40 minute walk.depends on the weather and what shoes you are going to wear. for mystere best getting a cab

    I have a question please

    Thanks for that info.

There%26#39;s a city bus that goes up and down the strip. Easy enough and cheaper than a cab by far.

Depend on the weather, if it%26#39;s a nice day best to walk a bit or catch the bus. If it%26#39;s around 100 degree and above I would rather pay extra for the cab rather then waiting for a bus.

Keep in mind that the bus makes frequent stops up and down the strip (at least the way I remember it). So if you are on a schedule for making a show or something, be sure to leave plenty of time.

For the Luxor, you can cross one bridge to Excalibur and get on the tram from there that will take you to Luxor and Mandalay Bay (all owned by the same group).

I think there is a tram from the Monte Carlo to Bellagio but it might be closed due to some construction at the Bellagio.

If you want to avoid the bus, go across the bridge to MGM and ride the Monorail up to Harrah%26#39;s and cross the street to TI there.

    Lyle

For the Luxor you can just walk!!! (5-10 minutes at most)

For TI best thing to do is take the express bus 302 that does not stop at all hotels but instead at major sections of the strip so just ask the driver which stop would be closest to TI.

(different from the bus 301 that stops at almost every hotel stop)

We were there for a week straight and only took the cab for out airport transport and we definately walked through every hotel and saw each one, as well as walking to all the shows and we stayed at the LUXOR (the almost last hotel on the strip)so walking is a good way to do it....just wear comfortable shoes!!!! (early 20%26#39;s and late 20%26#39;s)

    Question about booking LV shows

Is it best to book LV shows directly with the hotel in which they appear. For example, I was thinking about Celine Dion and David Copperfield. Better to book through hotel or through an online agent - interested in getting really good seats. Thanks

    Question about booking LV shows

Directly with the Hotel box office. If you use an agent you will pay a transaction fee.

    Question about booking LV shows

Good Question and Im sure you will get the answer here, if it hasn%26#39;t already be addressed in previous posts. The posts move along pretty fast in this forum. I will say, for on line, we used VEGAS.COM and it went smooth. Tickets were waiting for us at the Theatre.

    Nice Food

    Hi,

When I am in vegas its my birthday and obviously want to go for a nice meal approx $150 for two.

    Any suggestions???

    Nice Food

Could you be more specific? What type? On strip or off? ';Nice'; leaves it way to open to make any suggestions :-) since there are so many great restaurants in LV.

    Nice Food

Since you did not mention what kind of food I would suggest looking on the side of this page, click the ';Las Vegas Resaurant'; tab and choose anything on the first page. However there is no need to spend that much money for the best.

One of the best steaks I%26#39;ve ever had was at the Mon Ami Gabi bistro at Paris. Not overpriced, either and a great wine selection and fabulous service. Couldn%26#39;t get a seat on the patio when we went. Unfortunately.

The Sacred Sea Room at the Luxor was outstanding also. So is everything at Bellagio.

Ok think i need to be more specific, want steaks, burgers and seafood.

Easy to answer that. Best steak and seafood in LV is the CC Steakhouse, and it is the least expensive on the strip, less than $100 for two (More like $70-to-$90 depending on drinks ordered). If you go you will need reservations, most popular place in town.

For burgers, plenty of options. My two favorites are Terrible Mikes%26#39;s @ Orleans, or a chain called In-N-Out located everywhere.

  • Was solitaire ever a gome played in Vegas

Why is it when I play solitaire on my computer one of the scoring options is Vegas? Were there ever any ';solitaire tables'; in vegas? Or did they just make that up? ;)

Was solitaire ever a gome played in Vegas

WAY back it was played. You paid a set sum for a deck. Say $10 for easier mathmatics. You decided the actual ammount and the ';Boss'; decided if he would accept it. You now played the game while Boss watched. A good Boss could watch 4 games at once. If you missed a move you could have made, game was over. You went through the deck one card at a time. When it was all over you were paid 1/10 of your bet for each card up above. So on a $10 bet, 10 cards broke even. 20 cards up made you a $10 profit.

I understand there were a few rule variations, like if you had ten or more cards up you could go through the deck once again on an ';all or nothing'; bet. This means that all 52 cards are up after that pass and you are paid $52, or you win nothing. But I wasn%26#39;t able to find definate proof of this variation being used in a casino.

Because of the table space involved and low profit margine, it didn%26#39;t last. Slots and other table games were more profitable.

    Has anyone eaten at Samba?

    Any rants/raves about this restaurant?

  • Riviera room upgrade, etc...

I%26#39;ll be staying at the Riviera for 7 days the 2nd week of June. Got a deluxe room for only $69 a night. How hard is it to upgrade to a suite and how much extra would it cost maybe? A chance of getting a free suite upgrade? Also, is there anyone who has stayed in the deluxe rooms? I%26#39;ve seen a mixed bag of good and bad reviews for this place. I%26#39;m not expecting bellagio of course but just want a nice room.

    Riviera room upgrade, etc...

I can%26#39;t help you with a suite upgrade but I%26#39;ve stayed in the deluxe room at the Riviera. The property is nothing fancy. The room was clean and surprisingly big and the bed was comfy.

    Riviera room upgrade, etc...

As long as the room is decent and clean, thats cool with me.

Why did you pick the Riv? There are MANY hotels better than the Riv for around $69 or less/nt. Check Monte Carlo, Golden Nugget or Orleans and compare rates before you setlle for the Riv. The regular rooms at any of these places are probably better than a suite at Riv and are certainly better than ';deluxe';, which I%26#39;m sure is a stretch.

  • OT Sort Of: Lots of Snow Yesterday?

I saw pix on the news here on the east coast that LV got dumped with quite a lot of snow yesterday! I was kind of surprised to see so much. I know it does get cold there and snows too, but I don%26#39;t remember ever seeing that much of it.

    That%26#39;s it! Carry on...

    Suncoast Hotel & Casino...anyone??

    Question:

How far from the strip? Shuttle bus? Nice/clean hotel? Thanks!

    Suncoast Hotel %26amp; Casino...anyone??

How far? Maybe 12 or 15 miles about 20-minutes depending on traffic.

Shuttle Bus? Yes, free about every thirty minutes or so.

Nice/Clean hotel? Very nice and clean, bettter than most on the strip. Rooms are large and well kept. Food is dirt cheap and excellent. If I recall (been about 2-years) cooked to order breakfast is $1. It is a great escape from the strip. Set up more for golfers. I usally stay next door at JW Marriot, but go over there to eat, gamble, drink, catch a good free lounge act, or a show in the theater. Last time I was there I caught Steeley Dan.

    Suncoast Hotel %26amp; Casino...anyone??

Hi, I booked the Suncoast from 3/27--4/4 --never been but liked the location and the place got good reviews. I understand the shuttle runs to their sister property (Barbary Coast) and have read its a 15-20 min trip. Call the Hotel and reserve a ride on the hotel shuttle when arriving at LV Airport..check out their website http://coastcasinos.com--click on Suncoast and you can find their shuttle schedule

    Thanks..I appreciate the tips!!

  • Best time to book?

I have a question on hotel room prices. Friends of mine want to go to Vegas in May. Our last trip was in September, 2004 and we booked about 8 weeks ahead of departure. Yesterday, I checked prices for packages and hotels May and they are about one-third higher than last September.

My question is should I book now or is there a chance prices will drop between now and late-April? Its kind of a spur of the moment trip, so we dont mind waiting until the last minute to book.

    Best time to book?

Book on the hotel website where you want to stay NOW. Then you will have a place to stay no matter what. After you are assured a room where you want to be then play the lower rate game. When you find a lower rate or promo call to change your rate or switch your hotel. We do this all the time. May is a very desirable month to go to Vegas. The weather is great so this may make it harder to find good rates.

    Best time to book?

Thanks, ctribbs, we%26#39;ll give it a shot.

WOW we booked for July 31 to August 5 in November and go Airfare for 168pp and room at MC for $300 total, the earlier you book the better the price. BOOK NOW AND BOOK OFTEN

OK to take videos inside of casinos?

Is it OK to take videos inside of casinos? We%26#39;d like to bring some home for friends. Would they be too dark?

OK to take videos inside of casinos?

Yes and no. None will let you film near the pits, some will let you film around the perimeter like Rio. Casinos like to keep thier clients private, and obvious security reasons.

My advice is to just ask politely. If you are asked to quit and move on, do so immediately.

OK to take videos inside of casinos?

Nevada State Law says you cannot take video or pictures of anyone without first obtaining their written permission. (This is a BIGGEY)

Second - most hotels do not mind pictures as long as it is done as VHB said from a distance. If you are taking pictures and security comes up on you and asks you to quit - don%26#39;t try to give a reason or dispute the reason - just stop and acknowledge them- they are friendly and are only following casino rules -

    Same rules for still pictures?

    Same rules.

On domestic flights you can pack alcohol with no problems. Just remember no sipping, all alcohol has to be served by a flight attendant. As far as Luxor, I haven%26#39;t stayed there but I have used some if its facilities. I thought the American Standards were great. Just kidding. For real, they have a food court which is good when you are not trying to spend a c-note for every meal. Also you can find $5 BJ during the day. I just love saying that. Also, very close to Rumjungle and other MB great clubs. Don%26#39;t forget the adult show they have there worth checking out since your already there.

Cannot help with the show, I have been to Top of the World twice at someones elses expense. I am glad someone else paid because I would not return if I had to pay. It is very expensive, maybe the highest in town, but there is nothing special about the food IMO. You are paying for the view.

For a similar menu I would suggest Rosemarys, it is one of the best reataurants in town at 1/3 the price.

How expensive are we talking for two people ordering maybe prime rib and a couple of beers.....$50 per person....$100 per person? I looked at the menu online, but of course there are no prices.

I have a ressie for dinner there on a night we are seeing American Superstars. They said the min per person is about $30. I have also read the so-so reviews but will take my chances. I want the view and convenience of eating there after the show. We%26#39;ll just order the cheaper foods. Then again, my tastes are pretty liberal, so I might not find it too bad.

I am staying there in 2 weeks. I doubt we will eat at the restaraunt as it is pricey. From what i understand everything is ala carte. Ive heard with meals and drinks for 2 expect about $150. If you want the view there is a cocktail loiunge either a floor above or below. Yeah drinks are expensive, but your paying for the view and it sure as heck wont be near $150. Plenty of great places to eat in Vegas but this would not top my list. We will be trying the steakhouse at Circus Circus. From what ive read it is the best and most reasonably priced in town. Hard to believe that its in Circus Cirus, but ill roll the dice and give it a try. As far as the show goes. Ive heard its fairly decent. Mostly 1980%26#39;s heavy metal music and good lookin women. Sounds like tickets are very easy to get at 1/2 price. I wanna check it out as ive always been a vampire fan.

I had asked about the show, unfortunately I haven%26#39;t had much luck with people who have actually seen it. My honey and I though are real into vampires and classic metal/rock music so we%26#39;re looking forward to seeing it.
