Leaving tomorrow - advice on rental car

We are arriving in lv tomorrow, staying for a week. We had decided not to rent a car, but thinking now it may be a good idea. Want to drive to Red Rocks and maybe Hoover Dam. Should we arrange a car today through Expedia, Travelocity, etc - which one? Rent one when we arrive? Rent a car mid-week for just a few days?

Does Venetian have a daily parking charge?

I would shop around for the best rates before you leave. You will get a weekly rate if you book for 5, 6 or 7 days, so you might as well have the car for the whole week. Parking is free at all the big hotel/casinos. If you use the valet, you will need to tip the valet parkers. Find your best rate and go with it.

Go to the Southwest Airlines website and click ';Travel Center'; and ';Reserve a Car';. (Link below takes you right there). You plug in the dates and they show you all rental companies and rates for each car for your dates.

thanks for that link Steve...it%26#39;s handy!

I would shop around online to check out the best rate. You can go to the site or use Expedia...etc, some time the price are cheaper when you call too. Depending on the size of the car like a compact or midsize it tend to be like $19.99 a day. If you ask nicely they may upgrade you to a bigger size for free. No you don%26#39;t need to do the $20 trick to get the upgrade but if you want to tip them that would be nice too I%26#39;m sure.

First time when I was in Vegas I didn%26#39;t rent a car, something I regret not doing cause depending on where you want to go or the weather. It%26#39;s not pleasent to walk the strip in the hot weather. Much faster and go any places you want in a car.

I just got one for May, and am getting it for around or under $15 a day through Alamo. You can also go to www.vegas.com and go to the rental car section there, they offer a 10% if you book it through them. But, i found it cheaper to go directly through Alamo.

The one I got for under $15.00 was the tiny one, economy I think...

check out payless car rental%26#39;s website. their rates are MUCH better than anyone else%26#39;s. i asked for feedback on them on this board and several people told me that they are a good company and that they use them all of the time. good luck.

I was in Vegas in FEB. If i were u i would go directly to Thrifty%26#39;s website....sign up to become a bluechip member (its free) They will give u a temporary card/id number. Select the car and the rate u want. When u arrive in Vegas a shuttle will take you directly to Thrifty where a car will be waiting for you with the keys already in it. Hop in, they will scan your bluechip ID and drive off. ITS THAT SIMPLE.

Turning the car in is just as simple. Drive up, they scan the ID and u get on shuttle to airport.

IF smart, check your luggage in curbside at airport b4 returning car.

hope this helps, enjoy VEGAS

Payless, Thrifty...etc all basically close to each other. Just pick the best rate you want. Very easy to rent and returning the car.

we are going in april and i got a 14.99 a day from dollar. Use the valet and go wherever you want. have a blast. Don%26#39;t forget to give us a full report! :)
